Her third placement offers yet another contrast, being a large, urban, primary school in an area with quite a high level of social deprivation. Nina thoroughly enjoys working within this setting. She establishes good relationships with the staff. The school has a headteacher who is well respected in the area, and is seen to offer positive leadership, and to place emphasis on building a strong sense of team-work. Staff are generally young, aged between 20 and 40 years. Within the infant department in which Nina is placed, teachers team-teach in a large, open-plan area. Some class sizes are quite large. Each class has a separate quiet bay which can be closed off from the main area.
