ABSTRACT

In the previous two chapters, I have outlined three components of culture-artefacts, values and assumptions. We saw how these components become powerfully embedded in a culture through the process of problem solving. The focus has been on the way individuals act. They respond within a particular context, and develop perspectives and perceptions which give rise to desires and values. They make decisions and form habits around assumptions which reflect their experience of how schools work. As well as this individual dimension, there is also a relationship which exists between individuals and an organization’s culture.
