ABSTRACT
In order that the coordinator can encourage colleagues to develop practice that matches policy it is useful to produce a development plan for English-a step by step route towards good practice, effective teaching, and raised standards. This can be addressed in smaller bites, looking at different aspects of the subject at different times, gradually building the overall plan. An example of how this might work within the area of poetry is offered here to illustrate the process essential to development planning.
