ABSTRACT
Every now and again a new word comes into the language of teaching. In the last few years, monitoring has become one of those words. If you want to run your subject well or run your school well, you have to monitor. Lots of people worry about whether they’re doing monitoring properly; lots of people worry about what it means. If we can work out what it means, we have a chance of doing it properly.
