ABSTRACT

The Mossmorran natural gas liquids (NGL) fractionation plant and Braefoot Bay marine terminal will be the last parts to be completed of an extensive system to make gas and gas liquids from the Brent field in the North Sea available for commercial use. The Mossmorran site is in an area designated for industrial development and is in a part of Scotland with infra-structure capable of supporting major industrial expansion. Braefoot Bay is an unusually fine site for a marine terminal, providing an excellent deep-water location shielded from other marine traffic in the Firth of Forth. Both sites have the additional attribute of being topographically shielded from the surrounding area.
