Oil-related developments at Scapa Flow, Orkney, and Sullom Voe, Shetland, involve landfall of major pipelines from the North Sea to oil-loading marine terminals on industrially undeveloped islands. Occidental operates the Flotta (Orkney) terminal and British Petroleum the larger Sullom Voe terminal.
