ABSTRACT
Some of the criticisms that Hahn directed at earlier scholars’ interpretations of grammatical mood in her paper on Apollonius Dyscolus (Hahn 1951 a) were soon to be aimed at her own work. The fundamental problem was the absence of any objective and systematic method for analyzing the syntax and semantics of verbal forms in the extensive and complex texts that formed the corpus for the ancient and classical languages at the core of Indo-European studies.
