ABSTRACT

GCTs mainly occur in children and adolescents27 and are identical in appearance to GCTs elsewhere, e.g. the ovary and testes. Their biological behavior is also similar but treatment differs.28 Most GCTs, except for mature teratomas, are highly malignant but do respond to therapy. Cure is usual in germinomas but rare in the other malignant tumors. Therefore, GCTs are divided into germinomas and nongerminomatous germ cell tumors (NGGCTs).
