ABSTRACT

Cinder cones Cinder cones are among the most common volcanic landforms found in the •world, but very few are famous, many have no name, and, as their eruptions rarely cause any loss of life, they scarcely ever make the headlines. They are also amongst the simplest products of volcanic action and, although many cinder cones are as alike as peas in a pod, they often show up clear differences of both eruptions and landforms which make it easier to understand more complicated volcanic processes (Fig. 9.1).
