ABSTRACT

Graciosa is one of the smallest islands in the Azores, but it provides a synopsis of the varied landforms of the archipelago erupted on the flanks of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge. Although many volcanic features on the island are remarkably fresh-looking, no eruptions have, in fact, been recorded since the island was first settled about 1480.
