ABSTRACT
The title of this book, From Catholic to Protestant, implies that in the course of the sixteenth century England became a Protestant country. Given the diversity of religious attitudes outlined in previous chapters we need to consider how appropriate this description is: what does it mean to describe England as Protestant by the end of Elizabeth’s reign?
