The University of Louisville Breast Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy Study was initiated in November 1997 with the goal of determining the accuracy of sentinel lymph-node (SLN) biopsy in a multicenter setting. Since its induction, the study has accrued over 1800 patients from 166 surgeons. The vast majority of participating surgeons are from community general surgery practices with minimal previous experience in SLN biopsy.
