ABSTRACT
Solar energy has been recognised as a major energy source for many years,1 but it is only since 19073 that substantial research, development and demonstration projects have been undertaken throughout the world. Two of the main applications are in the provision of heat and electricity. Both applications have some potential in the UK and the opportunities for certain export markets in the supply of equipment and services is considerable.
