ABSTRACT
It is not just the traditional mainland area of the PRC that faces environmental problems; Hong Kong and Taiwan, too, have a range of environmental issues with which to contend. Meanwhile, the PRC's most controversial piece of claimed territory, Tibet, has unique environmental problems as its own — some created by its unique geography, others by the political system introduced since the PRC takeover in 1950.
