ABSTRACT
The focus of this study is on the lives of first generation Bidayuh women from their rural households who have migrated to the city for wage work. It is important to place the women’s migration to the city and their urban experiences in a broader historical and comparative context. This chapter will therefore discuss the forces which led to the women’s entry into wage work in the city.
