ABSTRACT
The Building Regulations 1965 to 1976 made provision for the exercise of the power of dispensation or relaxation of the regulations. The power was initially with the Secretary of State, but as time went by more and more of the various parts of the regulations could be relaxed by local authorities without prior reference to the Secretary of State.
