ABSTRACT

Much of the earlier material has dealt primarily with the design of the lit environment in a

visual sense, but there are other important issues that the designer needs to consider for

an installation to be successful, not just when new but throughout its life. This chapter

discusses the following:

• Lighting maintenance. This topic is often overlooked by the designer. An installation can quickly deteriorate and cease to provide the quantities and qualities

required unless an effective maintenance programme is incorporated.
