ABSTRACT

Model specifications, in the guise of standard specifications (see Chapter 3), can be external to a company or they can be internal to a company. The ‘Civil Engineering Specification for the Water Industry’ is an example of a reasonably long-standing external form of model specification. However, in the context of this chapter, model specifications are particularly looked at as a tool for the production of particular (project-specific) specifications. The chapter also describes the standard frameworks and layouts for the production of specifications.
