ABSTRACT
The buildings we inhabit and the lots these structures sit on represent the smallest scale of development affected by urban planning, a domain that overlaps with the professions of architecture and landscape architecture. Issues at this level include how development fits into and affects the natural landscape, how it uses energy and materials, how it influences the neighborhood and social interaction, how accessible and useful it is for different groups of people, and how it affects the health and daily lives of residents or workers.
