ABSTRACT
Although almost every development-related topic relates in some way to sustainability, the planning profession is better positioned to address some subjects than others, and arguably some planning-related issues are more urgent than others. Following is a discussion of key issue areas for sustainability planning, with attention to some of the practical implications surrounding action on each subject. I will cover more specific mechanisms for addressing each subject at different scales of planning in later chapters.
