ABSTRACT

In this paper a pilot of a user study method is presented. The method is a combination of two field inquiry techniques, collecting stories and self photographing.

The focus of the user study was on users’ experiences with mobile phones. It was assumed that by studying the users’ experiences on current mobile devices, new and interesting phenomena could be found to inspire future design of mobile communication applications. This assumption was tested by presenting the essential findings of the user study in the form of storyboards to a group of designers working for a company developing mobile phones.
