ABSTRACT

Description: Activase is a first-generation recombinant human tissue plasminogen activator that promotes the degradation of fibrin and, therefore, blood clots. This 527amino acid glycosylated serine protease is produced by recombinant DNA technology in Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells and is identical to the naturally occurring molecule. Activase is presented in a sterile lyophilized form in a single dose vial, containing 50 or 100 mg of the product. It is reconstituted with water for injection (WFI) before intravenous administration. Its specific activity is 580,000 IU/mg.
