ABSTRACT

Description: Infanrix Penta (Pediarix in the U.S.) is a combined vaccine against diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, hepatitis B, and poliomyelitis. It is a combination of vaccines already approved (Infanrix and Engerix-B in the U.S., Infanrix HepB, and Infanrix IPV in the E.U.). Infanrix Penta contains diphtheria and tetanus toxoids, three pertussis antigens (pertussis toxoid, filamentous hemagglutinin, and pertactin), the major surface antigen of the hepatitis B virus obtained by recombinant DNA technology, and inactivated polioviruses (IPV) (types 1, 2, and 3). It is presented as a suspension in prefilled syringes for intramuscular injection.
