ABSTRACT

In the preamble to the document it is claimed that the Union, taking the inspiration from its moral and spiritual heritage, is built on common and inseparable principles of human dignity, freedom, equality and solidarity. Its foundation consists of the rule of democracy and law. By the establishment of Union citizenship and the area of liberty, security and justice, it puts the individual at the centre of its activities. The Union contributes to preservation and development of shared values with the recognition of a variety of cultures and national traditions of Europe. It also protects free movement of people, goods, capital and services as well as freedom of enterprise.
