ABSTRACT

Eight percent of all human malignancies occur in the head and neck; 90-95% of all head and neck malignancy is squamous cell carcinoma. The larynx is the commonest affected site in the head and neck. Lymphomas, salivary gland tumours, neurogenous lesions and other lesions of connective tissue origin also occur. The highly specialized tissue of the orofacial region gives rise to uncommon and unique patterns of neoplastic disease; for example the odontogenic tumours.
