ABSTRACT
AIDS may be defined as a persistent defect in cell-mediated immunity with no other known cause other than demonstrable infection with Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV).
Epidemiology
1. At risk groups. Homosexuals (72%), IV drug abusers (15%), haemophiliacs and blood transfusion recipients (2%). Children and heterosexual partners of affected patients are at risk.
