Important in lip repair after trauma and in cleft lip closure. • Orbicularis oris: provides sphincter function to the mouth and contributes to
lip competence. The depth from the skin surface is only 2 mm, therefore mucocutaneous malignancies fix skin to deep structures early in the disease course.
