ABSTRACT
The operation is performed for benign tumours or end stage inflammatory disease of the superficial part of the gland. Several incisions are described. The commonest in the UK is the pre-auricular approach with reversed ‘C’ relieving limb inferiorly. The skin flap is developed anteriorly in the subcutaneous plane.
