ABSTRACT
In Malaysia, the idea of the ‘rule of law’ has never been subjected to extensive public debates or rigorous analysis. Yet it is an idea which does occupy a place in the Malaysian legal and political system. The adoption of a ‘Westminster’ form of government and the legacy of British colonial rule have fostered this idea.1
