ABSTRACT

The type of data that you will need to undertake your research, what you will need to do with your data when you have collected them and how many data you will need to collect are three interrelated issues that you need to consider all together. For the sake of this book, we have chosen to deal with these three issues separately in this and the following two chapters. However, we should stress that you need to address them all simultaneously and not sequentially. For example, if you are not sure about the difference between qualitative, quantitative and spatial data feel free to skip to the section in Chapter 7 where we deal with this.
