ABSTRACT
Table 5.1 shows that the new Labour women MPs’ initial conceptions of representation conform to traditional understandings of the concept. While three new Labour women MPs made reference to the concept of descriptive representation, only two of them explicitly identified the representation of women as part of their general understanding of representation. However, when the MPs identified other interests and issues their commitment to act for women became more apparent.
