ABSTRACT
Most analyses of whether women make a difference in politics fail to consider what MPs do in their constituencies. Yet responding to and representing their constituents is a significant, albeit unsung, part of a British MP’s representative role.1 Moreover, if party identity and discipline is less important in the constituency, then the sex of the representative might make a significant difference in the constituency as women MPs act for women.2
