ABSTRACT

Debbie’s wish to practice her clinical social work skills came to fruition when given the opportunity to work directly with women who were victims of spousal abuse. Her clinical experience included performing psychosocial assessments, providing supportive counseling, and arranging group counseling participation. At first, Debbie was thrilled with the prospect of helping women to understand patterns of abuse while revisioning their future. During her first few weeks, Debbie received many compliments from the clients and staff for her insight and natural ability to empathize.
