ABSTRACT

My goal in this chapter is to survey the semantic priming scene from “30,000 feet”, with any eye for general patterns or principles. I begin by offering bullet-point summaries of each of the preceding chapters:

• Chapters 2-7: Models. The most influential models of semantic priming have been spreading activation models, Becker’s verification model, compound-cue models, distributed network models, and multistage activation models. Other notable models include Forster’s models, Norris’s context-checking model, Neely and Keefe’s hybrid model, and ROUSE.
