ABSTRACT

This chapter explores an inclusive approach that can be found in lawsuits in Argentina and Colombia that were filed in the aftermath of unionist persecutions under military rule. It also highlights repression against unionists, in particular those occurring at Mercedes-Benz and Ledesma. The majority of the prison's 5,000 detainees, who were later executed, had previously been active in the labor movement. The chapter deals with legal efforts in Argentina, Germany, and the United States to hold the responsible to account and to obtain reparations for the victims of Argentina's dictatorship. It further focuses on criminal proceedings initiated in Switzerland against Nestle managers for their complicity in the persecution of unionists in Colombia. In one of the rulings justice Nirio Sanchez suggested that the proceedings revealed that the deceased had been preparing to testify about the practices of the transnational corporation Nestle Cicolac in front of the Permanent People's Tribunal in Bern, Switzerland.
