ABSTRACT
This chapter examines serial port communication programs applied in the Windows NT/2000/XP operating systems (OSs). Serial port communication is widely applied in all industries, including commercial applications, manufacturing, and academic research and libraries. One of the most popular languages used for serial port programming is C/C++, which provides a good real-time environment for the serial communication applications.
