ABSTRACT

This section of the book contains a selection of brief outlines of other lessons and reproductions of some of the children’s drawings generated by the lessons. Negotiated drawing is a feature of most of these lessons but, in some cases, the lessons were designed for children who were already sufficiently experienced in this way of working to be able to embark on a drawing from observation without a great deal of preparatory support. You will also see that in other instances it was not appropriate for the teacher to develop an imaginative context for the work as the children had reached a stage at which they were sufficiently well motivated and confident to undertake a drawing from observation without this. Just drawing directly from first-hand experience is enjoyable for the children once they have developed confidence in their skills.
