ABSTRACT

Trade has been attracting the attention of economists for a considerable time. Indeed, trade issues were already paramount in the writings of the major classical economists and have dominated the literature on international economic relations since. This need not surprise us as we are at the heart of the economy. Matters such as accessing goods that could not be produced locally, the reasons for international specialization and the benefits countries could obtain by trading have intrigued generations of economists. In line with the general topic of this book we will focus on a different area than that of most of the literature. The aim of this chapter is to show what regime will best enhance the benefits of international trade.
