ABSTRACT

I read and write all the texts with which I engage as conduits to my participation in diverse virtual communities. Like all social constructions, these communities are paradoxically both ahistorical, yet caught in moments of transitory time; and they are shared knowledge-making entities, yet uniquely experienced. So, in the previous chapter I explored readings of management theory texts, authored across several decades, as if in immediate conversation with them, and I also touched on the climate of the community, management scholarship, which has welcomed them. At the same time, as I described my own response to these texts, I assumed that you, my reader, would also be actively engaged in these discursive experiences.
