ABSTRACT
In order to context my method of text analysis in literary theory, in the previous chapter I described diverse literary theories which variously prioritize: the intention of the author; the multiple voices to be heard playing through the deconstructed text; the emphasis placed upon individual interpretation by reader-response theorists, and the renaissance of rhetoric in recognition of the text-as-mediator in reader-author identifications.
