ABSTRACT
The Philippines is an archipelago of 7107 islands and 88.5 million people (2007 census). Most of the population is concentrated in the 20 largest islands, with a little over half of the country's total population living on the biggest island, called Luzon. An estimated 55 percent of the population lives in urban areas.
