Another general factor to consider for uncertain learners is inconsistency. This may be achangeofteacher,anewtopic,adifferentroomorinconsistenciesinthesubject.This shortchaptertriestohelpteachersandsupportassistantsgainanextraunderstandingof this facet of maths and how it may confuse insecure pupils. We try to encourage pupils to lookforpatternsandthisisgenerallysoundpractice,butthenwemustbeawareofthe exceptionsandtheconfusionsthatmayariseasaconsequence.
