ABSTRACT

This book is intended to advance the theorizing on mothering and daughtering, and to add a motherly point of view to the already available daughterly and outsiders’ views. No definitive solutions will emerge from the pages of this volume-are these actually possible? However, the taboo on female subjectivity has been removed, and an enriched view of the development of female subjectivity is offered. New directions for theorizing are revealed, including a revision of mother-daughter relationships and the contexts in which they are situated.
