Walpole's The Castle of Otranto) is not uncommon, that indirect translation is more prevalent than generally assumed (for example LUTHER's - see GERMAN TRADmON - Bible is based in large part on ERASMUS' - version - see DUTCH TRADmON), and that versions (Ezra POUND - see AMERICAN TRADmON) , and imitations (Robert Lowell) are wide spread. Indeed, the margins have become so diffuse that much so-called original writing is now viewed as incestuously related to trans lation (see MULTILINGUAUSM AND TRANS LATION).
