Recently, six members of the McDonnell family entered my office and sat silently and expectantly, waiting for me to begin. Their referral letter was cursory. The appointment was arranged urgently and in haste. The usual assessment form was not filled in and I was thrown upon my own resources. I was uncertain. How would I assess this family’s suitability for therapy?
