ABSTRACT
I will attempt a broad look at supervision within an institutional setting in order to highlight dynamic processes, both between and within its internal structures, or sub-groups. Through exploring issues specific to a particular institution, I will show how trainee, staff and administrative groups reflect each other’s concerns and anxieties in unconscious ways, and how this influences the relationships between groups and the individuals who inhabit them.
