ABSTRACT

Between sessions ten and eleven Francis and I arranged time to discuss the improvisations transcribed at City University. Some of the material is contained in the previous chapter. Francis also spent time discussing music therapy generally. His statements deserve their own chapter as they consist of his detailed reflections on the first stage of our work. This gave me the opportunity to think about these and other aspects of practice that were important in the work with dying people. In setting forth Francis’s thoughts this chapter will provide a context for the next stage in the therapy process. Its structure unfolds in the same sequence as the assessment itself.
