ABSTRACT

Ethical questions surfaced: was it right to make improvisations from music therapy sessions available to a wider audience? Would my preoccupation as a musician and composer usurp my role as a music therapist? Flights of musical romanticism were challenged as I contemplated the consequences such an event might have. It could be as dangerous as it could be enlightening for a client. I would need to consider carefully whom to invite to be a part of such a potentially explosive experience. Francis seemed the obvious choice: would he agree to be a part of the proceedings, and which of his improvisations would he wish to incorporate?
