ABSTRACT
Television came to the People of the Book (Katz 1971; Liebes 1997) only in 1968, under heavy suspicion that it might personalize Israel’s highly politicized party system and de-ideologize its politics. Until that time, Israel had fought its stormy political debates on the pages of its printed press and, to a lesser extent, on its public radio.
