ABSTRACT

In this chapter, long-term transformation processes are outlined in an attempt to clarify the economic background against which a projectintensive economy has developed. We will also attempt to describe the processes underlying the development of a project economy. It will be argued that a variety of push and pull factors are involved in the transformation, ranging from changing consumer demand patterns to exploitation of IT Various aspects of the neo-industrial movement as it is now emerging will be commented upon, and, in particular, we will examine the projectisation phenomenon.
